How to Use Your Fleshlight

Fleshlight Care and Feeding

When you first receive your Fleshlight, you’ll notice that the insert has a really nice powdery coating which gives it its skin-like texture. This unfortunately will wear off after a couple of sessions. You can of course restore this by putting your toy in a zip-lock bag filled with corn starch and shaking it until the starch is evenly distributed over the Fleshlight, however if you are like us, you won’t want to bother with this after a while and you’ll just leave it as is – as it will still remain quite pleasant to the touch.

Store your Fleshlight in a clean, warm, dry place. Ensure there is no moisture left on the toy before you put both caps on for storage. If you do not, you will notice over time that mildew may appear on your toy – and though this is easily removed, it is never a good thing to expose yourself to.

The best way to use your Fleshlight is to run the tap and fill the sink with hot water and immerse the insert for about 5 minutes before you begin. This lends to the realistic feel of the experience as the material retains its heat fairly well. The unfortunate side effect of this treatment is however that you will, should you have any air leakage around the end cap (and you will – there is no gasket there) you will sometimes get some noise and a fine mist of water escaping on the down stroke. This will only continue for a few minutes though and is really nothing to concern yourself with at all.

Depending on your model and penis size, the Fleshlight may be used with the end cap either on or off. We found that the Fleshlight Super Ribbed and the Fleshlight Speed Bump allowed sufficient air into the system to create enough suction on the upstroke, while not being overly difficult to penetrate on the down stroke. We found this was not the case with the Fleshlight Classic (Pink Lady), as it created so much air resistance on the down stroke, it had to be used with the cap either off or on very loosely – which unfortunately leads to some distracting noises as described in the Fleshlight Pink Lady product review.

Fleshlight Techniques

The Fleshlight can be used in a number of creative ways, but the most common is obviously lying on one’s back, applying some lubrication and stroking away. We have tried many lubricants with the Fleshlight line of toys and have always come back to ID Glide. It seems to work best and is also recommended by the manufacturer. One of the advantages of this toy is that you may apply the lubrication directly to the orifice and rub the Fleshlight on your penis to lube it slightly before penetration. We find with most other toys, you have to lubricate the penis directly – leaving you with a wet, sticky mess on your hand before you even get started!

Another interesting technique that you may not have thought of employing with your Fleshlight is to get it all prepared and then insert it between the mattresses on your bed. This holds it firmly in place and (of course depending on the height of your bed) allows you to simulate actual sex more readily. Other ideas include using the Fleshlight in the shower, though we found this to be less than ideal as the lubricant washes off with water and the toy also fills up with liquid over time.

Fleshlight Fun

The uses for your Fleshlight are limited only by your imagination so have fun with it and experiment… try it with a partner; use it in different positions; add a smoothie vibrator (we recommend the inexpesnsive Slimline) to your play – whatever! Just relax and enjoy one of the best designed sex toys on the market.
