Laughter in the Bedroom

If you are a movie fan and paying attention, you will notice a common thread running through on-screen love scenes. Can you guess what that is by the following examples? Some are very romantic with the man and woman making love in a scenic setting - a moonlit beach perhaps. There are others wherein the leading man seduces his female counterpart - ripping her clothes off and passionately ravishing her. Still others involve a long married couple reading books in their separate twin beds. There is an exchange of looks, followed by extinguished illumination and some squeaky bed sounds, all without a single word having been uttered. The common aspect demonstrated in all these examples is extreme seriousness. The scene may be seriously romantic, seriously intense and primal or seriously boring. The actors and actresses all look fantastic and play their roles beautifully, but it often resembles more of a fantasy brought to life rather than a real occurrence. Everything is so perfect that it is almost surreal.

In reality I think that it's safe to say that everything is not always so perfect, in fact it very rarely is. Quite frankly, real life is far more fun, or should be in any case. Real life sex is often more comedy than drama with numerous opportunities for things to go wrong and become amusing or even hysterical at times. How many times has the whole undressing segment gone awry, more than once I assume? The man can't seem to get his partner's bra undone, you fall over trying to take off your socks or you so seductively fling off your underwear only to have them land on the lampshade. If you are using a diaphragm or condoms, getting everything put into place also leaves plenty of room for comic relief.

Now, you are actually both naked, turned on and ready to begin, what could be humorous about that? Many hilarious things occur during sex. First off, many people are ticklish. Your partner may begin to kiss or rub you somewhere they feel should be a hot spot which has the unfortunate, undesired effect of inciting you to laugh like a lunatic. Or, when attempting some particularly acrobatic maneuver things often go awry, resulting in one or both partners falling out of bed. Physical mishaps are very common in the bedroom, including the ever popular banging your head on the headboard or wall accidentally and as long as no one is really injured, laughter is often the byproduct. As far as sounds go, there is no shortage of peculiar noises made during sex. Sometimes if our bodies are stuck together just right, it can make the familiar sound of a 9 year old playing his armpit. Often it is the bed itself responsible for the sonic entertainment. Let's face it, there are more often amusing noises created during lovemaking than those which are more associated with the movie version of passion.
